Air Jordan 1 Mid “Take Flight” Goes Interstellar

Air Jordan 1 Mid “Take Flight” Goes Interstellar

Often experimental in its approach to new colorways and materials, the Air Jordan 1 Mid linage has been a focal point for Jordan Brand’s in-house design team to flex their creative muscle. And when it comes to kids-exclusive releases, it’s even more evident, with the freedom to explore fun and exciting themes that likely take themselves back to their own fond childhood memories. One of those cherished experiences has now found its way to this Air Jordan 1 Mid “Take Flight”, which pulls in two aligning themes, with retro 3D film glasses and intergalactic travel at the forefront of the design — and if you grew up in the 80s and 90s, 3D films were frequently centered around space.

It’s not the first time this theme has been brought to kids’ footwear, with a more direct influence brought to the Air Force 1 Low back in August of 2019, and again on this release’s accompanying Air Jordan 1 Low. Though that former was a bit more direct about it — printing spectacle graphics on the insoles — this pair on Js draws an association from the dual, overlapping Jumpmen at the tongue, dual-colored JUMPMAN/TAKE FLIGHT typeface on the Swooshed, and doubled physics illustrations across the toe and heel overlays. The forefoot and ankle flap overlays sport Milky Way prints to further the theme, as does the metallic silver print on the Wings motif. Completing the design is a set of mismatch blue and red insoles, and a white and black sole unit featuring both contrast stitching and aircraft-inspired MJ23 lettering at the ankle.

A release date for the Gradeschool Air Jordan 1 Low SE “Take Flight” is yet to be determined, but expect these to land at select Jumpman retailers and on Nike.com in the coming weeks. Until then, enjoy an official look at the pair here below, and make sure you’ve got your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
