Have we gone past the point of salvation for the Air Jordan 1?

How much can the silhouette take?

It’s no secret that the Air Jordan 1 has been Jordan Brand’s licence to print money for decades. With almost weekly releases of the Air Jordan 1 over the last couple of years, many have called out Jordan Brand for over-production of the brand’s most iconic silhouette. But how much can it take before sneakerheads fall out of love?

The recent Flyknit editions of OG colroways caused debate. But it was the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 that pushed the silhouette’s limits with the sneaker community, leaving the purists divided on the legacy of the Air Jordan 1 – especially when it took on an OG colorway of such historical significance. And the next to unique take on the iconic “Chicago” colorway is this “Rebel” design, which has furthered the Jordan 1 legacy discussion amongst sneakerheads.

From discussions boards, it’s clear to see that the true OG’s will always be in vogue.

But whatever your opinion is, Jordan Brand will continue to push the envelope through design and material – and of course there is no better way to showcase their efforts than on OG colorways. It creates talking points, and whether it’s good or bad feedback, they’re getting the exposure they desire. Just like we’re doing now.

The next take of the Jordan One to spark a heated debate is this women’s exclusive Air Jordan 1 Rebel “Chicago”. It features an array of unique tweaks on the OG; an asymmetrical lacing system, zippers on the medial side along with an oversized Nike Air logo and the Wings logo appearing on the heels.

If the Air Jordan 1 Rebel “Chicago” tickles your fancy, look out for a release in women’s sizing to hit stores this June.

    Stay tuned for more details.
