In anticipation of tomorrow’s premiere of Space Jam: A New Legacy, many of us — myself included — have whipped out the old VHS system, popped in the original 1996 film, and took a nostalgic trip down memory lane. From Billy Murray’s stellar cameos to the epic soundtrack, the film still hits. But for sneakerheads, it’s all about the shoes. MJ’s Air Jordan 9s and Murray’s Air Jordan 2s were nice, but none quite measured up to Mike’s big game kicks, the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam”. 25 years on, the sneakers are still as coveted as they were in 1996 — perhaps even more so — which makes the timing of Sotherby’s latest auction

The auction house has an original PE pair of the Space Jam 11s made for Mike to wear in the film and are in excellent condition of a quarter-century-year-old sneaker. Although these remained unworn, they’re still an incredible piece for the serious collector. Signed by the GOAT himself, the size 13’s arrive factory laced, They are offered in special custom wood and velvet box featuring a laser-etched graphic of the Tune Squad logo.

This player sample edition of the Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam” is up for auction until July 26th. The pair is expected to sell between $150,000 and $200,000 when it closes. Those with cash to burn can place their bids here.
