Bram Kohlhausen, former quarterback for the TCU Horned Frogs, recently unveiled a custom Air Jordan 1 Low OG golf shoe developed exclusively for him by Nike, Inc. The pair has been tailor-made for his prosthetic legs.
Back in 2016 during the first TCU Alamo Bowl, the Horned Frogs were down 31-0 to the University of Oregon Ducks at halftime. Kohlhausen was making his first and only start as quarterback. In the second-half, he went on to lead TCU to a historic comeback to defeat Oregon 47-41.
The Horned Frogs' win over Oregon has become the stuff of legends, with Kohlhausen having cemented himself in the history books.
In May 2023, the Houston-native tragically fell from a helicopter during a hunting trip, resulting in the loss of both his legs from calf, down.
This year, Tobie Hatfield, a veteran designer and innovator at Nike, Inc., partnered with Kohlhausen to help him indulge in another sport he's passionate for: golf. On this front, Hatfield modified a favorite Air Jordan shoe of the former college quarterback to fit and perform better for his prosthetic legs. An artist at Miles Custom Studio designed symbols for the shoes, which depict Kohlhausen's football career and journey back to health.
Last night, Kohlhausen was the Honorary Captain for TCU at during the team's Valero Alamo Bowl game against the USC Trojans. He wore the custom Air Jordans at the game.
Hatfield's gesture is rooted in his ongoing commitment to Universal Design, Innovation, Accessibility. He co-created Nike EasyOn footwear, the Nike Sole 2.0 x Ossur Running Blade, HyperBoot, and Nike’s Special Forces Footwear. Additionally, the special pair for Kohlhausen showcases the Swoosh's commitment to athletes of all kinds.
