Jordan Brand broke countless hearts in mid-February 2022 when it tasked a spokesperson to share news with media members that the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 'Bred' collaboration Virgil Abloh previewed back in 2019 would never see a retail release. Today, sneaker collector Simon Voltaire Tan is looking to mend at least one broken heart for the price of $60,000.
Known on Instagram as @depeche23mode, the collector has gained a following over the years by showcasing an insane collection of footwear. Unreleased samples and decades-old grails are commonplace across his feed. His latest post, however, might be his wildest.
Word of the Air Jordan 1 'Alaska' returning before the year ends demonstrates that consumers are still interested in product from Off-White and Nike, Inc. The duo, however, has slowed down its collaborative cadence, at least on the product side. When Abloh presented the 'Bred' Air Jordan retro at his "Figures of Speech" exhibit in MCA Chicago, the world stood still given the iconic color scheme and silhouette reworked with the artist's Midas touch. Rumors had long plagued the internet about an ultra-limited release, but nothing ever came to fruition. As aforementioned, Jordan Brand dispelled all rumors a few years ago, but Tan's sale serves as a chance at redemption.

By now, every detail on Off-White's unreleased AJ4 has been studied ad nauseam by fanatics of the Chicago Bulls-friendly style. Original Nike Air branding from 1989 reprises its role alongside Abloh's signature Helvetica text, semi-translucent components, and distressed panels.
If you'd like to purchase the rare pair in a U.S. Men's size 9, contact @depeche23mode via Instagram. Please have your $60,000 ready as the collector's made it clear that the five-digit price tag is firm.
