Tear-Away Air Jordan 35 “Chinese New Year” Drops January 14
These days, there can be no complete Chinese New Year collection without the inclusion of the current Air Jordan signature sneaker. Though only teased as part of Nike’s official unveiling of the 2021 CNY capsule, the Air Jordan 35 “Chinese New Year” is one of the most intriguing of the collection. How sway? It’s just a simple black and red release, right? Wrong.
This year, the performance-loaded sneaker has dressed up in the season’s familiar “Black/University Red” color scheme accompanied by bright yellow accents in an ode to the national colors. Customary Chinese characters appear at both the rear tag and graphic insole reading “23”, while gradient Eclipse plates and (what appears to be) glow in the dark outsoles provide some pretty cool talking points. But it’s the pair’s tear-away upper that is the marquee selling point, the first Air Jordan 35 to feature the finish. It, like the previously-previewed Air Jordan 5 Low, has cut-away paneling at the toe and heel which reveals multi-colored, eye-catching patterns oft found on fireworks packaging for the New Lunar Year
With a confirmed release date of January 14th, you won’t have to wait much longer to break out the pen knives — but until then you can enjoy a look at the official images of the Air Jordan 35 “Chinese New Year” here below.
