Following the recent CoolKicks LA police raid, the Los Angeles Police Department has made another major move in cracking down on organized theft across the city. Detectives have arrested a Los Angeles man in connection with a large-scale cargo theft investigation after more than $1.46 million worth of stolen train cargo was recovered.

According to officials, the suspect has been identified as 41-year-old Alejandro Aguilar-Espinoza.

On Monday, October 6, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on the 4300 block of Verona Street in East Los Angeles, where they discovered a massive cache of stolen goods. The operation was conducted in collaboration with Union Pacific Railroad Police, L.A. Port Police, L.A. World Airport Police, and the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office, underscoring the scale of the investigation.

Authorities recovered an estimated $1,460,000 in stolen items, including Nike shoes, Milwaukee tools, and electronic equipment—merchandise believed to have been taken from multiple train cargo shipments.

Aguilar-Espinoza was arrested without incident and booked at the LAPD Metropolitan Detention Center on charges of receiving stolen property.

“Detectives responded to his residence after receiving information indicating the presence of stolen cargo,” LAPD said in a release.

In a statement, the department highlighted the importance of interagency cooperation, noting, “This investigation underscores the importance of interagency collaboration in combating large-scale cargo theft and preserving the integrity of Southern California’s commercial supply chains.”

The investigation remains ongoing, with officials confirming that additional arrests are expected as the case develops.

Anyone with information related to the case is urged to contact the LAPD Commercial Crimes Division, Cargo Theft Unit at 213-486-8766, or L.A. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS for anonymous tips.

The latest arrest highlights the growing seriousness of large-scale retail and cargo theft operations throughout Los Angeles and beyond. With major brands like Nike among the affected parties, the LAPD’s efforts emphasize that these crimes have far-reaching economic impacts — disrupting supply chains, damaging business relationships, and eroding consumer trust.
