DTLR x New Balance 992 “Discover & Celebrate” Honors Washington D.C.

The partnership between DTLR and Boston’s New Balance has birthed some intriguing sneakers. The joint partnership has spanned inspirations widespread, from Greek Gods to American muscle cars. Now they’re looking to the Capital of the U.S. for influence with this upcoming DTLR x New Balance 992 “Discover & Celebrate”.

Heavily set in New Balance’s grey suede and mesh DNA, it also doubles up as a nod to the city’s sweeping use of cement, from the Washington Monument to the countless memorials and the city’s bevy of bridges. Jet blacks are ushered in across the tongue, liners, and mid panel, while pops of red arrive informed by the Capital’s star-spangled flag — a motif which appears prominently at the heel. The tooling of the sole unit below mimics the upper’s palettes perfectly to complete the design.
