OG Post 07.16.20 // Sitting just days off the official launch, the second colorway of Jaden Smith’s vegan New Balance X-Racer has appeared — and it arrives in a vastly more versatile option.
More classic in its approach to color, the X-Racer-like design dons a simplistic white, navy and golden yellow finish — a classic 90s colorway in anyone’s book. It works extremely well for the trainer, bringing an essence of familiarity and nostalgia to the modernized sneaker. The classical colors, along with the inspired design elements from the 1990s and early 2000s — most notably channeling the 992, the M1200, the RC205, and the M1000 — makes it feel so. But it’s not all retrospective; It’s ultra chunky sole unit is something completely left-field for the brand, as is the use of utilitarian tongue pulls, asymmetrical eyelet placement and a fully-translucent rubber outsole all adding fresh flavors into the New Balance menu. Once again, the hot pink ((VISION)) brandmark akin to Jaden’s stylings appears beneath, as do the special Jaden-signified insoles.
