Levi’s x New Balance 1300 Pushed Back to April 24th
New Balance’s first entry into its 1000 lineage was birthed in 1985 when the 1300 introduced as the brand’s flagship running model. At the time of release, fellow American icon and Polo founder Ralph Lauren praised its outstanding comfort, referring to the silhouette when saying “It’s like walking on a cloud.” Fast forward thirty-five years and another of America’s biggest fashion labels are showing the silhouette some love, with denim demigods Levi’s linking up with New Balance for a special take on the 1300.
The project is based on the derivative M1300CL model, whose sole specification is tweaked from the original — but it’s still made right here in the good ol’ US of A. Here, the jean junkies tribute their own heritage, utilizing vibrant tan-orange leather accents in reference to their original “Levi’s for Feet” range form the late 70s. Shaggy tan suede overlays could, in fact, be a reference to many of the line’s desert boot drops, while dark navy Denim uppers fortify the connection to unmistakable proportions. Midsoles, laces, and liners all arrive in a pre-aged-look sail, and the pair is capped off with a classic gum rubber outsole and the defunct footwear line’s memorable orange tag at the midfoot.
Two made in the USA icons, one hellova sneaker. The quality of this collaboration is out of this world, but the price tag won’t be — set at a reasonable €220 (approx. $240 USD). Store and raffle lists will be filtering through over the next few weeks, so make sure you’re following our official Twitter account for further updates on that. Until then, enjoy a detailed look at the Levi’s x New Balance 1300 below.
Update 03.25.20 // Originally pegged for a March 26th release, the Levi’s x New Balance 1300 will now release globally on April 24th at select NB partner stores and NewBalance.com for $190.
