Tokyo Design Studio Honors an OG with “Light Steel Blue” New Balance 1300 RC

Ronnie Fieg isn’t the only one getting a little nostalgic about the OG “Steel Blue” New Balance 1300, with the brand’s Tokyo Design Studio embarking on their own “Light” iteration of the classic colorway.

But while Fieg simply took OG 1300’s blocking and migrated it to the 992, TDS have flipped the grey suede overlays to an ultra-light washed blue-grey pigskin. Underneath, the dark blue-grey mesh uppers remain unchanged in a tribute to the OG, while the upper’s white and grey accents are reissued in bone. The midfoot N motifs still feature the piercing shade of blue beneath, with dark grey rubber outsoles another tribute to the original. Completing the look are luxe leather liners, TDS-branded insoles, and clean white ENCAP Reveal midsoles.
