The New Balance 1500 had a big one for its 30th birthday bash in 2019, but it’s showing no signs of a hangover in 2020 with an already-impressive catalog of drops filling the few months of 2020. Many of those have been arrived in a classic NB aesthetic, including a duo of almost-OG drops, a two-piece monochrome pack from Junya Watanabe MAN, and a patriotic Red, White, and Blue offering. But not everything has been tame in nature, with the rodential “Year of the Rat” serving up something a little more adventurous. Now the brand will be extending on that animal thematic, with an upcoming New Balance 1500 “Animal Pack” set to arrive in stores this Spring.

Anchored down in earthy dark brown mesh, leather, and suede, the pair is brought to life with faux animal furs across the vamp and collar. Zebra arrives around the ankle and lower mid-panel, whilst cheetah print pops over the lacestay overlays. The pair is elegantly crafted with supple brown leather tongue and heel overlays, and is capped at the forefoot with pig suede mudguards — also in brown. Elegant embroidery in white and gold compliment the midfoot “N” motif, while a classic white midsole and gum rubber outsole complete the design.
