The New Balance 1500 Made in Japan '35th Anniversary' Could See Global Release

The New Balance 1500 has long been testament of the brand's commitment to quality. Originally and still largely manufactured in England, the silhouette has enjoyed a cult-like following since its debut in 1989. Last year, the North American company decided to commemorate one of the sneaker's biggest fan bases by producing a special '35th Anniversary' pair in Japan.

The style largely flew under-the-radar for its exclusivity to Japan, but it recently surfaced via New Balance product photography obtained by House of Heatº. As has been the case with other sneakers, these images suggest a proper, wider release could take place before the year ends.

The Made in Japan NB 1500 boasts a tried-and-proven colorway that sees shades of grey set the stage for hits of navy and yellow. Made in England text on the tongue is replaced by confirmation that the '35th Anniversary' update has been manufactured in the Far East. Luxurious nubuck and buttery-soft leather come together atop a breathable mesh base that harkens back to the sneaker's running origins. A special dust bag commemorating the celebratory occasion houses the pair, which originally released exclusively at spots like the New Balance Harajuku location.
