The New Balance 1906 Loafer Returns in “Black/Metallic Blue”
The divisive sneaker-loafer hybrid from New Balance continues to defy expectations. Though unconventional in concept, every release of the 1906 Loafer has sold out within minutes, cementing its place as a cult favorite. With resale prices soaring, most fans have only had the aftermarket as their route in. That may soon change, though, with a new colorway appearing just in time for the Fall/Holiday 2025 season.
This upcoming pair arrives in a striking "Black/Metallic Blue" arrangement. It retains the silhouette’s performance-based underpinnings, borrowing the layered mesh and synthetic paneling of the traditional 1906R running shoe. Sleek black midsoles and plastic heel cages provide structure, while sharp metallic blue overlays and silver accents bring visual energy to the otherwise muted base. A single forefoot strap replaces laces for a slip-on-friendly, loafer-like finish.
The model’s unconventional fusion of retro tech-runner elements with slip-on styling has proven polarizing, but its popularity is undeniable. And for those who missed previous drops, this fresh take offers another shot at retail.
No release date has been confirmed, but expect the New Balance 1906 Loafer "Black/Metallic Blue" to arrive on NewBalance.com sometime between Fall and Holiday 2025.
