Unlike their rivals in Nike and adidas, who’s Chinese New Year releases have fluttered in for weeks, New Balance’s approach has been much more restrained. In fact, we’ve only seen two options of the 2002R appear just last week — a dire comparison to the countless options from the aforementioned brands. Now, as we edge closer to the annual celebration, a new release has emerged, this time on the in-vogue 920 silhouette.
Arriving clad in customary CNY red suede and mesh, the pair continues a typical thematic with accents of black, gold, and white throughout. The latter graces only the midsole, while black nubuck, textile, and plastics pop at the upper, liners, and rear clip respectively. A good fortune-wishing gold gears the midfoot N and branding embroidery throughout, while a traditionally-designed OX motif makes its way to the tongue’s inner tag to complete the design.
Grab a detailed look at the New Balance 920 CNY “Year of the Ox” here below, and while they’ve already released at select retailers around the globe, we should be seeing a wider release on NewBalance.com and other stores very, very soon.
In other New Balance news, UK retailers size? has just revealed a New Balance 500 collaboration.
