Available Now // New Balance 991 in Timeless Navy and Grey
First released in 2001, the New Balance 991 hit the scene as a retro-inspired yet-upgraded version of the classic 990. It was an instant success, thanks to it’s ultra-comfort and versatility, which is why Apple’s Steve Jobs adopted the silhouette as his own. And although Jobs preferred the staple Grey as his go-to, he did, form time-to-time, opt for Navy. There have been many variations over the years, each offering subtle changes here and there — each slowly blurring the line between OG and all-new. This pair is, in fact, one of the latter, bearing a remarkable resemblance to this pair from 2017.
Here, faded navy mesh uppers serve as the pair’s base, with grey leather overlay riding the forefoot, ankle, and tongue. Navy pigskin covers the pair from toe-to-heel, across the vamp, and over the eyelets. Outsoles arrive mostly in black, holding a two-toned white/bone ABZORB midsole above. The pair is complete with bone liners and laces, and a classic white-outlined silver N motif at the midfoot.
