As the boundaries of athletic footwear continue to expand, New Balance steps up its game with the latest reveal in its basketball lineup—the TWO WXY V4.

In an unprecedented move, the Boston-based brand combines FuelCell and Fresh Foam, two of its top-tier cushioning technologies, in a single shoe model. FuelCell graces the lateral forefoot and medial heel sections, while Fresh Foam provides cushioning on the medial forefoot and lateral heel.

Trent Casper, New Balance GM for Basketball Design, said, “The TWO WXYv4 represents our dedication to providing solutions to take our athletes to the next level. We have combined our two key technologies of FuelCell and Fresh Foam, to create a shoe that allows players to reach new heights on the court. It is not just about performance, it is about revolutionizing the game.”

Adding to its innovative essence is the shoe's upper design, which diverges from earlier versions. It incorporates a split lightweight textile construction; the forefoot and medial upper showcase breathable mesh, while the lateral sidewall is enhanced with structured leather for added support.

The NBA's reigning champion, Jamal Murray, is fronting the campaign for the TWO WXY V4. The shoe’s initial colorway, “Dualism,” presents a monochrome split—jet-black mesh for the forefoot paired with a pristine white leather heel. Subtle crimson highlights feature on the tongue and the oversized 'N' logo, adding color to the shoe.

Beyond its high-tech specs, the TWO WXY V4 aligns with the philosophy of the two-way player. As the 2023 NBA season nears, basketball enthusiasts can expect to see New Balance athletes like Tyrese Maxey, Dejounte Murray, Darius Bazley, and Aaron Nesmith stepping onto the court in this innovative pair.

Slated for a September 22 release, this advanced shoe carries a retail price of $120 and will be available at selected retailers as well as on New Balance's official website.
