New Balance Vision Racer “Sunset Chaser” Collection Arrives May 27

Noticeably absent from New Balance’s recent forward momentum has been the sustainably-built Vision Racer, a sneaker that burst onto the scene in mid-2020. Helped along by Jaden Smith, the futuristic silhouette drew some initial interest, only to be slowly phased out by a universal upvote for vintage and retro runners. With the likes of Joe Freshgoods, JJJJound, and Aimé Leon Dore progressing that story, the Vision Racer has been left in the shadows. But as we approach the middle of the year, the two-year-old silhouette is still showing some signs of life, with the revelation of the New Balance Vision Racer “Sunset Chaser” collection indicating that the sneaker is not ready to wave the white flag.

Delivered in two options — white and black — the pair looks to communal features like purple-to-pink gradient mesh uppers and outsoles, the latter reading the collection’s title underfoot. Both proffer a pink midfoot N motif, with overlays and midsoles of black and white, respectively, each a complete inversion of its opposing colorway.
