The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 1500 Takes a Subtle Turn from Tradition

The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 1500 "Olive Grey" offers a surprising departure from the designer's usual bold and flamboyant aesthetic. Marking Bembury’s first collaboration on the classic 1500 silhouette, this release takes a more understated approach while still retaining his signature flair in the finer details.

Built on a light grey mesh base, the sneaker is overlaid with premium pigskin suede in an earthy olive hue. The collar is wrapped in soft leather, and the beige midsole incorporates New Balance’s ENCAP technology for cushioned support. At first glance, the palette and design feel reminiscent of classic New Balance staples like the OG "Grey" from the ’80s — simple, timeless, and versatile.

However, Bembury’s touch shines through in the accents. Bright yellows adorn the tongue, while hits of purple, orange, blue, and green bring a lively twist to the forefoot and outsole. The collaboration also includes a bespoke shoebox featuring Bembury’s signature graphics and a set of extra laces, offering a thoughtful nod to collectors.

One can be expected to see these released in spring at New Balance and select global retailers. Pairs initially landed on A Ma Maniere's raffle page but were quickly removed.
