Officially announced back in March of that year, the anticipation built steadily over the proceeding months until it was revealed that their debut link-up would be on a runner (the RC Elite) — not a lifestyle trainer as many had hoped. Their follow-ups were in the same vein, with more RCs and a Football collection for the FIFA World Cup keeping the active enthusiasts happy. But now — finally — the two parties will be linking up on a classic New Balance design, with a first and official look at the Stone Island x New Balance 574 confirming a long-awaited lifestyle release.

Though it brings in many elements of the famed “Steel Blue” color scheme, the pair is overhauled with Stone Island’s penchant for militaristic makeovers. Here, ripstop uppers, shaggy suedes in drab hues, and fleecy liners and tongues, the latter dressed with oversized Stone Island-branded patches that further the army aesthetic. Classic silver heels and midfoot N motifs return — though the latter sports a modern 3D printed-like finish — with a staple white and black sole unit completing the design.
