Detailed Look: Harajuku-Inspired Nike Air Max 95
The Nike Air Max 95's legend has long been established across Japan, specifically in Tokyo. Streetwear pioneers and everyday folks have been enamored with Sergio Lozano's design since first images of the pair infiltrated the island country. Those who interacted with Shibuya's Harajuku area throughout the mid-to-late-1990s and early 2000s understand the sneaker's significance to youth culture, which will soon be commemorated by a special release.
Teased via Instagram by atmos creative director, Hirofumi Kojima, the project could be a proper collaboration with the longtime Nike Air Max connoisseur. Kojima, however, has previously taken to social media to preview pairs that'll simply be carried throughout the atmos family of brands. In any case, the retailer's connection to a Harajuku-inspired AM95 makes perfect sense given its influence on and physical presence in the zone.
An early shot of the sneakers showcase a swoosh-accompanied HRJK logo on the inner lining, a detail that references an illuminated archway entrance to Takeshita-dori Street. A complete color palette was confirmed a week later: the pair features a black leather makeover across the upper, allowing for "Neon Yellow" accents along the tongue and throughout visible Air cushioning to revel in the spotlight.
