Briefly revealed as part of Nike’s epic Chinese New Year collection earlier this week, the Nike Blazer Mid Rebel “Spring Festival” is arguably the season’s most audacious — and for a CNY release, that’s no mean feat. The notoriously colorful, heavily-decorated collections often push some boundaries with this effort appearing to explore creative expression a little further than its accompanying pairs.
Not only does the release enlist the reimagined Rebel design, but it also shows a level of imagination seldom seen on the humble silhouette. Inspired by the naturalistic spring blossom, the pair ushers in subtle hues found in nature across materials often found in women’s streetwear across the Pacific. Uppers of a silky nylon hone in on a golden beige hue, while detached Swooshes in soft pink velour nods the ultimate cozyfam fit, the velvet tracksuit. Medial zippers and translucent sole units match the aforementioned hue, while liners – also in velour — take on a more saturated approach to pink. Suede overlays hit the eyestays, forefoot sweep, and rear, the latter in springtime green, while plush tongues and heel panels are tinted in a soft yellow. But that’s not all — there’s another layer hidden beneath, with velour returning once more in a pastel purple.
