COMME des GARÇONS Revives the Hybrid Nike Air Max Dolce from 2002
Rei Kawakubo's COMME des GARÇONS continues to unlock the expansive Nike Archives. During Paris Fashion Week, the storied empire previewed an Air Max Dolce collection set to launch throughout Spring/Summer 2026.
Debuted in 2002, the Nike Air Max Dolce had long been forgotten by the masses. Experimental then as it is today, the design coupled the brand's revolutionary visible Air cushioning with an experimental, slip-on upper. The result is a loafer-like hybrid that falls in line with other technical takes on classic men's footwear produced by New Balance and others giants in the sportswear scene.
Pairs by COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS remain faithful to those released in the early aughts. The ridge-laden profiles, shrouded tongue, and Air Max unit at the hind-foot reprise their roles, although the most latter component takes on a covered, ceramic-reminiscent presentation on the high fashion link-up. Tongue covers opt for patent leather finishes, while footbeds include the multiple swoosh branding found on recent work between Kawakubo's team and Nike.
