Denham x Nike Air Max 1 Limited to Just 6,800 Pairs
After a few link-ups with American denim juggernauts Levi’s and New York boutique brand 3X1, Nike is setting off across the Atlantic for its next indigo-dyed partnership, tapping Dutch label Denham to do their thing on the ageless Air Max 1.
With all-denim kicks a done thing, the Dutch denim house has taken a different approach to their collaboration utilizing their preferred fabrication only on select areas of the upper and tongues. And although the label is situated in western Europe, the imprint is ushering in some heavy Eastern influence, with the vamp infused with a traditional technique known as Boro stitch — a process formed out of necessity by Japanese peasants in the medieval era. Tongues are finished in a herringbone-like weave, while gridded prints engulf the demon base layer, too. This busyness is countered by the abrupt simplicity of pair’s premium overlays, including supple suede overlays in blue and beige and heavily-tumbled leather Swooshes. Leather liners, debossed suede tongue tags, and heavy-duty ring eyelets elevate the pair even further, but the pair’s most luxurious and unique finish is stowed away on the inside; red and gold leather insoles featuring both Denham’s scissor motifs and Nike Swooshes. Capping off the design is a classic white and gum sole unit, complete with punchy red Air supports within.
Though there’s no word on an official release, several sources are reporting a micro launch of only 6800 pairs later this Summer. Grab a detailed look at the pair further on, and stay tuned into our official Twitter account for release dates, official imagery, and further updates.
