Hiroshi Fujiwara's renowned Fragment Design is set to revitalize the Nike Zoom Spiridon, steering this iconic silhouette back into the limelight after its last appearance in 2018.
This upcoming version of the Zoom Spiridon deviates significantly from previous iterations, embracing Fragment's unmistakable aesthetic. The upper is drenched in the brand's signature royal blue, utilizing a juxtaposition of materials that include a plush suede wrapping the mudguard and robust nylon, a departure from the traditional breathable mesh. This creative choice lends a novel charm to the sneaker, giving it a fresh identity.
One of the most distinctive alterations in this collaboration is the treatment of the lace eyelets. Customarily, the Spiridon's eyelets are integrated into its transparent layer, but this design conceals them, bringing forth a sleeker, more streamlined façade. However, what makes it instantly recognizable as a Spiridon model is its bold midsole design, a defining characteristic that fans have come to love.
True to Fragment's style, branding is subtle and pronounced: it features prominently on the tongue with striking embroidery and reappears on the outsole rubber pod. Instead of its usual placement on the midsole, the technical lettering synonymous with fragment design x Nike partnerships finds a new home on the heel stripe, extending into the pull-tab, another unique trait of this collaboration.
A release date for the Fragment x Nike Zoom Spiridon is yet to be disclosed, but several sources are pointing to a release towards the middle of 2024.
Expect more details to emerge soon.
