Japan's Instant Skateboards to Release "Royal" Nike SB Air Force 1
The Nike SB program continues to deliver a steady flow of in-line product for skate-enthusiasts, but much of its most-celebrated projects throughout history have been collaborations.
Over the next year, Japan's Instant Skateboards—founded in 1995 by Akio Homma and Asaoka-san—is set to add another tally to the expansive list of SB linkups. Thanks to Instagram user @kcscowboys1977, the world has an early look at a "Black/Game Royal" SB Air Force 1 Low from the Urayasu-founded skateboarding imprint.
The newly-surfaced "presidential" sneaker sees a straightforward color execution: "Black" suede takes over the bulk of the upper, while "Game Royal" suede appears across profile swooshes and Achilles' heel panels. The midsole is done in "White," while the tread reverts to a rich blue color. Those informed with some Nike SB history should immediately think about the brand's J-Pack SB Dunks from 2005 and 2014, respectively—pairs of the Low and High that drew inspiration from the iconic Air Jordan 1 "Royal" first released in 1985.
Different color schemes of Michael Jordan's first shoe have inspired Nike SBs over the years, but Instant Skateboards' unreleased AF-1 keeps things simple. An "instant" wordmark appears on the lateral heel.
Stay tuned for firm release details. While you wait, enjoy an early look at the pair ahead, and download the House of Heat° app (iOS/Android) when you're done.
