The Nike Zoom Flight V is reportedly set to return in Spring 2027, bringing back Jason Kidd’s first signature sneaker for its 30th anniversary.
Originally released in 1997, the Nike Zoom Flight V arrived during an era when Nike Basketball was pushing bold performance design across the court. While the silhouette is closely tied to Kidd, the model also became recognizable through its aggressive tooling, wavy midsole lines, and the iridescent oval panel embedded at the midfoot — a detail that still stands out decades later.
For its return, the Nike Zoom Flight V is expected to release in the original Black/Lapis colorway, pairing black nubuck uppers with white overlays and vivid royal blue accents throughout the outsole, eyestays, and branding. The signature iridescent jewel panel also appears set to make a comeback, preserving one of the shoe’s defining visual elements.
The retro continues Nike Basketball’s recent run of revisiting late-90s and early-2000s performance models, especially silhouettes connected to influential guards and the golden era of NBA footwear design. With Jason Kidd remaining one of the league’s most recognizable point guards from that period, the return of the Nike Zoom Flight V adds another important archival release to Nike’s growing retro calendar.
At this stage, the Nike Zoom Flight V “Black/Lapis” is expected to release in Spring 2027 for $170. An official release date has not yet been confirmed.
For more on "Lapis" colored sneakers, the Air Jordan 11 "Lapis" drops in November.
