Don C Drops Exclusive Access to Homage-Riddled Air Force 312 Hybrid for All-Star Weekend

You just knew that Chicago-born Don C had something up his sleeve for All-Star Weekend 2020 in his hometown — it was just a matter of when it would surface. To answer that last part, it was today, with this “Blue Chicago” Nike Air Force 1 shared by-way-of his wife’s Instagram.

It’s not just the blue and red Chicago flag that Don is honoring here on this beautifully-constructed AF1 hybrid, but also the city area code, albeit much more subtle. Just like he did on the Jordan Legacy 312, Don delivers a “312” mashup here in the form of three classic Nike silhouettes: The Air Force 1, the Air Force 2 and the Air Force 3. The first two are relatively easy to spot: the Air Force 1 makes up the majority, fueling the vamp, toe, and sole unit, while the rear links back the follow-up Air Force 2. The latter comes minus the collar, with a modified AF1 heel overlay that holds in that buttery tumbled leather strap. The Air Force 3 comes into play on the upper eyelet and the collar in which it sits.see: the upper eyelets.

Aside from all that homage, the pair’s construction is remarkable. Top-tier leathers, including smooth uppers and tumbled tongues and straps, are paired with satin liners for that expected Don C flair. His name comes stitched in the rear, while further tributes are paid to the Windy City through the city’s flag stitched on the tongue liner. An all-blue sole unit popped with red “AIR” accents completes the design.
