Kevin Durant Shares a First Look at His Nike KD 16
As Kevin Durant prepares for his 12th appearance in the NBA Playoffs — his first with the Phoenix Suns — the two-time NBA champion is once again on his quest to secure the Larry O'Brien. But he won't be doing it alone, with thr Slim Reaper set to take the court alongside leage superstars Devin Booker and Chris Paul. The Suns' All-Star trio has quickly emerged as the Western Conference favorites, with their first-round matchup against the Clippers scheduled for Sunday. In addition to the on-court excitement, Durant has added another element into the mix, unveiling his latest signature sneaker, the Nike KD 16.
On Friday night, Durant teased fans with a preview of three Nike KD 16 colorways via Instagram. The sneakers were displayed atop cacti, perfectly complementing the Phoenix desert backdrop. Similar to the design of the Nike KD 14, the KD 16 features a textured multi-layer mesh on the forefoot and heel, as well as a synthetic mudguard that wraps around the entire model.
The silhouette of the Nike KD 16 is sleek and streamlined, following the design language of Durant's previous signature shoes. The mid-foot TPU caging system from the KD 15 has been updated with porous ventilation on both the lateral and medial sides, extending onto the forefoot's split midsole. While the heel likely contains Zoom Air, the KD branding can be found on the tongue tabs, and the iconic Swoosh is situated on the upper collar, similar to the Air Max 95.
The Nike KD 16 is expected to make its on-court debut as early as this Sunday, though it remains unclear which colorway Durant will choose for the occasion.
