Nike Air Max 1 “Obsidian” Arrives January 22

Nike’s brief intermission of Air Max 1 releases really didn’t sit well for a lot of Airheads around the globe, many of which think it should be a year-rounder release — us included. But with the Swoosh putting the OG Air Max silhouette on ice while they focused on their birthday models in the Air Max 90 and Air Max 95, we’ve all been waiting patiently for its reinstatement. Earlier this year we saw its return by-way-of two anniversary options in orange and green, before being blessed with a bevy of leather-built bangers that were sprinkled through the back end of the year. Now having just previewed the leather construct in “Dark Teal Green” and Martian Sunrise“, the silhouette returns with a sleek Air Max 1 “Obsidian” option.

Uppers of this Tinker Hatfield-designed silhouette keep their traditional color blocking of a white base and soft grey paneling across the midfoot and heel, though it’s classic textile and suede fabrications are traded for thick-cut leathers. Mudguards and Swooshes also arrive in leather, the former decked out with an added forefoot mini Swoosh. underfoot remains unchanged, with classic white midsoles and translucent Air units sit atop a tri-tone rubber outsole to complete the design.
