Nigo x Nike Collaboration Coming in 2024
After a successful 20-year partnership with adidas, legendary Japanese designer and BAPE founder Nigo is set to join forces with Nike, according to a recent report by Complex.
Nigo, who has had an impressive career collaborating with many brands, from Uniqlo UT to Parisian fashion house Kenzo, is now ready to embark on a new chapter with arguably the biggest brand in his storied career.
Nigo's legacy in the sneaker world began with his streetwear label A BATHING APE, which introduced iconic designs like the BAPE STA, SKULL STA, and Manhunt. These sneakers were heavily inspired by existing footwear icons, with the BAPE STA's nod to the Air Force 1 being the most culturally significant.
Ironically, Nike recently filed a lawsuit against BAPE, alleging that the brand's current footwear business revolves around copying Nike's iconic designs. However, this legal action has not deterred Nike from collaborating with the influential designer himself.
Details on the upcoming Nigo x Nike collaboration remain sparse, as the partnership is still in its early stages. Sneaker enthusiasts and fans of Nigo's work will likely have to wait until 2024 to see the first releases from the collaboration.
