Tinker Hatfield's Nike Air Max 1 design changed the world of sneakers in 1987. As the fictional (but important) Air Max Day inches closer, the pioneering silhouette continues to appear in new styles.
Similar to the impending Air Max DN8 model, the newest pair to surface with visible Air cushioning takes on rich 'Hyper Royal' flair. Perhaps associated most often with Sean McDowell's Tuned Air-variant from 1998, the bold blue tone takes over the AM1's mudguard and profile swooshes. Other branding throughout the upper and the top-most eye-stays also follow suit, allowing for the remainder of the Air Max 1's top-half to revel in a pitch 'Black' finish.
Cushioning underfoot also joins in on the 'Hyper Royal' fun, but foam midsoles deviate in a simple 'White' tone that allows for the upper to shine. Next Nature traction rounds out the unreleased proposal with its typical speckled makeover.
An official Nike.com launch date hasn't been announced by the brand at the time of this writing, but the sneakers are sure to hit retailers by summertime. While you wait, enjoy official photos of the pair ahead and check out the ultra-limited 'Xuanwu' Air Jordan 1 prepped for the Chinese New Year.
