Nike's Air Max 1 isn't in a special anniversary year (that'd be 2027), but it continues to form part of the brand's core product lineup. With Valentine's Day inching closer, the iconic silhouette has appeared as part of a collection prepped for any Feb. 14 woes.
At quick glance, the newly-surfaced duo seems like an elevated take on the standard Air Max, delivering uncommon 'Playful Pink' flair and glassy patent leather construction. Closer inspection, however, reveals a number of special touches on Tinker Hatfield's creation from 1987. The titular rosy hue is contrasted by either 'Black' or 'University Red'. Both impending styles, however, include Nike text in the form of lace attachments reminiscent of giant helium balloons. Laces feature a painful phrase that'll be inevitable for some on Valentine's Day: 'It's Not Me, It's You'.
The remainder of the shoes stay rooted in heritage, although one of the pairs indulges in rich 'University Red' across the midsole. Air bubbles and outsoles on both contribute to the savage heartbreak-inspired makeovers. A predominantly-'White' pair previously surfaced, previewing the limited collection.
Enjoy official photos of the 'It's Not Me, It's You' Air Max 1 duo ahead, and expect a Nike.com launch in the coming weeks.
