The Nike Air Flight Huarache “Nike Gear” Honors Retro Athletic Apparel

Nike is set to return one of their iconic basketball sneakers from the ’90s, the Air Flight Huarache, in colorways new and old throughout the 2023 season. Co-designed by industry legends Tinker Hatfield and Eric Avar in 1992, the Air Flight Huarache quickly became a favorite among high-caliber hoopers like Scottie Pippen, Reggie Miller, and Kobe Bryant. With the return of the OG and the first-ever release of Kobe’s PE, Nike is poised to fill its schedule with exciting new options like this retro apparel-inspired Nike Air Flight Huarache “Nike Gear” colorway.

Harnessing the essence of the era’s tracksuits, the pair presents in a heritage mix of hues, including white, cream, pastel pink, bright blue, and muted navy; a look that calls back to Karen’s aerobics outfit from the local YMCA circa 1993. The pair is even fitted with retro “Nike Gear” graphic insoles that further enhance the theme.

While mostly in off-whites and creams up from, the neoprene booties, nubuck wings, and rear caging provide all the included colors — so to does the outsole underfoot, which breaths life into an otherwise underwhelming sole unit beneath.
