The Nike Air Force 1 Gets a Textural Refresh in “Black/Smoke Grey”

The Nike Air Force 1 continues its long run of material-driven refreshes with a new “Black/Smoke Grey” colorway that leans into texture, depth, and subtle detailing. While the silhouette remains one of Nike’s most consistent staples, this latest pair shows how small material shifts can give the model an entirely new mood.

The upper blends two contrasting finishes: soft, textured Smoke Grey leather across the mudguard, eyestays, and heel, and smooth black nubuck along the toe box and midfoot. The mix creates a layered, dimensional look without straying from the quiet, tonal palette. The leather's natural grain adds character to the overlays, while the nubuck underlay keeps the base clean and grounded.

The standout element is at the Swoosh, where Nike adds decorative embroidery in multiple tones of grey. The stitched execution gives the logo extra weight and presence, and its raised texture breaks away from the smooth synthetic treatments seen on many recent AF1s. Additional branding hits follow suit: the heel features cursive-style “Nike” embroidery, and the tongue opts for a muted black-on-black finish that suits the overall palette.

Underfoot, the pair sticks to the formula with a fully blacked-out AF1 sole unit. The midsole and outsole blend seamlessly into the upper, reinforcing the monochrome aesthetic and keeping all attention on the materials up top.

The Nike Air Force 1 “Black/Smoke Grey” is available now through select European retailers. A U.S. launch via Nike.com and regional partners is expected soon, so stateside buyers will have to sit tight until release details are confirmed.
