The Nike Air Force 1 “Command Force” is Inspired by a Legendary 1991 Sneaker
As the godfather of Air technology in basketball, it’s safe to say that the Ai Force 1 has gone on to inspire countless hoop shoes over the years. It’s normally a one-way street, but the tables have turned for Nike’s newest AF-1 release, with the legendary Nike Air Command Force lending its scheme (and logos) to the Air Force 1 Low.
Though it’s not a direct copy of the original “Lyon Blue” release, it does have several key callouts to the original ultra-high-top sneaker. Most obviously, the FORCE logos at the tongue and matching motifs at the heel, insole, and dubrae leave no confusion to its inspiration, with its white, blue, and red accents falling close to the original placements, though in a much more minimal way. The Air Force 1 then takes it upon itself to give itself an aged-look aesthetic, with sail sole units and suede eyestay overlays adding more heritage charm to an already retro-loaded scheme.
