Being one of the most famous SB Dunks in history, 2005’s iconic “Raygun” release has innately served as inspiration for many customizers over the years, many of which have transferred the iconic black, white, orange, and yellow thematic across to the Air Force 1. It’s always been an easy option for creatives, thanks to its similar three-panel construction and the base pair’s low cost, availability, and popularity. But now, it appears that Nike will be releasing an official Air Force 1 Low “Raygun”, according to @ovrnundr.io.

Originally surfacing on the SB Dunk back in 2005, the theme is a reference to a fictional 1970s ABA franchise imagined by a 2002 Nike ad campaign, the Roswell Rayguns, which is one of the brand’s most memorable mock-ups alongside Charlie Murphy’s Lero Smith, and Michael Jordan’s Johnny Kilroy. It has since gone on to grace not only custom creps, but also official releases from Nike. The Alien motif was used for its alien-themed pack of All-Star sneakers in 2013, although it did not feature the famed color palate as the Dunk. In 2018, saw a very limited “Raygun” Kyrie 3 in reference to the All-Stars interest in skating. Most recently, in December 2019, Nike released two tie-dyed sequels to the original “Raygun” SB Dunks that served as a tribute to the late Nike SB Godfather Sandy Bodecker, who regularly wore a tie-dye Roswell Rayguns hoodie, according to the brand’s product description of the Dunks.

Update 10.27.20 After the thematic having just appeared on the all-new Nike Kyrie 7, official images of the Air Force 1 Low “Raygun” have arrived. Differing from the 1-for-1 Dunk mock-up provided earlier, this official release appears to adopt a “Home Kit” aesthetic, with all-white leather uppers met by orange and golden yellow textile overlays in the rear. Swooshes too, sport a textile, with the black belly tacked on atop a golden underlay. Liners, laces, and outsoles also arrive in black, and the pair is complete with an alien face basketball badge on the lateral ankle, and special-edition graphic insoles.

Though a release date for the pair is yet to be confirmed, the appearance of the official images does indicate a proximal release. Until further news arrives, grab a full look at the gallery here below, and be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.

Update 12.21.20 A release date for the Nike “Raygun Pack” has been confirmed by Foot Locker family stores for January 15th, 2021.
