The Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Independence Day” Returns April 28th

It’s official! The Nike Air Force 1 Mid is back for the new year in a big, big way — and why not? The Bruce Kilgore-designed silhouette is set to celebrate the big 4-0 after all. Now, following the return of the “Flax” Fall favorite, the just-revealed Stussy collaboration, and two inbound efforts from the late Virgil Abloh, the silhouette has just reappeared in a classic colorway: 1997’s Air Force 1 Mid “Independence Day”

Early leaks of the 2022 release show a fairly close resemblance to the OG (pictured above), even down to the heavily-tumbled leather uppers, gorgeous jewel Swooshes, and AF1-branded dubraes. The pearlized leather overlays have differed with advancements in material manufacturing, as to has the icy outsoles underfoot that prolong yellowing tenfold to soles seen early on this century. But aside from that, you can expect to see much the same in terms of color blocking, finishes — and nostalgia.
