Continuing its celebration of the iconic silhouette's "Big Bubble" retro, Nike is introducing the all-new Air Max 1 '86 "World Make" as part of a wider collection of like-minded releases.
Having already witnessed the recent Sashiko-inspired Air Jordan 1 Low, this new Air Max 1 seamlessly carries forward the commitment to earth-friendly materials. Here, it showcases hemp uppers, a material renowned for its sustainable properties and robustness. This is gracefully contrasted with woven overlays which exhibit a contrast-stitched black trim, a touch that evokes traditional Asian craftsmanship. The Swoosh overlays and mudguards, made of bone-tumbled leather, add sophistication and enhanced durability, with the latter sitting beneath the overlays on the sidewall for added toughness.
The sneaker's midsole, in a classic sail hue, hosts stark black Air supports. A matching black liner and rubber outsole bookend the design, creating a cohesive aesthetic. Delving into the sneaker's finer details, special graphic insoles identify the pair as "World Made," reinforcing the global influence of the footwear giant. This sentiment is echoed in the WM tongue stitching, adding a bespoke touch to the shoe.
Expect these sneakers to hit select Nike retailers and Nike.com on September 22, 2023, and will retail for $170.
