It’s about that time of the year that we started breaking out the old-man wool flannels and Houndstooth jackets — and so is Nike, with this very Ralph Lauren two-pack of Air Maxes that covers both ends of the tech’s life spectrum. First up, the original Air Max 87pairs classic black and white Houndstooth uppers with toasty woolen overlays at the vamp and hee in mid-brown. Mudguards and profile Swooshes call upon a richer chocolate shade for its suede, with classic sail midsoles, and gum rubber outsoles arriving underfoot. Cream liners, tongues, and laces add perfect balance with the midsole, and the pair is capped off with vibrant pops orange on the upper eyelets and tonal tongue tags.
The accompanying Air Max 270 Reactis colder in comparison — but still classic in its choice of colors and materials. Utilizing the same black and white Houndstooth upper, the pair is overlayed at the tongue and upper eyelets in grey woolen flannel and is paired with bold strokes of maroon throughout. More modernized materials cover the toe and remaining overlays, and the pair is complete with a blacked-out React sole unit.
