Nike Wraps the Air Max 1 in Colorful Glaze Overlays

Though it’s now over 35 years old, Tinker Hatfield’s Air Max 1 continues to reinvent itself for the modern market, with experimentation with color, material, and theme keeping the silhouette as relevant as ever. This all-new women’s-exclusive release is an exemplar of that, as is blends both classic and contemporary finishes, from classic nylons to glaze overlays.

Here, the upper half is delivered in a mix of blush and beige in typical Air Max 1 materials, though its forefoot and mudguard overlays are wrapped in colorful glaze, complete with shaped patterns and oversized Swooshes. The atypical panels work in pink, teal, and purple, with triangles, polka dots, stars and plus marks all present, It’s capped off with a tonal gloss Swoosh at the lateral toe, before returning to something more recognisable underfoot, with an unadulterated sole unit delivered in sail and translucent purple to round out the design.
