Let’s take a moment to acknowledge the sheer magnitude of GoldenEye 007. A cultural juggernaut. A console-selling phenomenon. A multiplayer masterpiece. And if you know, you know—the absolute banger that was the pause screen music? Still undefeated.
Now, Nike is leaning in on that nostalgia with its latest entry in the Low Poly series, this time paying homage to one of the most iconic video games of all time. The GoldenEye 007-inspired Nike Air Max 1 “Big Head Mode” celebrates the groundbreaking 1997 first-person shooter for the Nintendo 64, a game that redefined its genre and permanently stamped its legacy on pop culture.
The shoe’s colorway directly refers to Bond’s iconic tuxedo—simple black and white base layers representing 007’s classic suit-and-tie look. Gold detailing nods to the mythical Golden Gun, the game’s most infamous and overpowered weapon. The nickname “Big Head Mode” references the beloved cheat code that transformed every character into bobble-headed versions of themselves, cementing the title as a low-poly playground of chaos and fun.
While the graphics may be primitive by today’s standards, GoldenEye’s legacy endures—and this sneaker is a fitting tribute. It's a cult hit—a design legend. And yes, that soundtrack will be stuck in your head for days.
The Nike Air Max 1 “Big Head Mode” is expected to be released in the Summer of 2025 for $160. The colorway is currently available as a Cosmetic in Fortnite.
And, of course, the Donkey Kong-inspired "Big Head Origins" drops this week, on Air Max Day, March 26.
