2022 Nike Air Max 1 “Safari” Honors an Iconic atmos Collaboration

Things are starting to heat up for the Air Max 1 and its 35th-anniversary celebration, headlined by today’s trio of regional Air Max Day releases. But this is only just the beginning, it seems, with Nike set to tribute one of the trainer’s most iconic collaborations through this brand-new Nike Air Max 1 “Safari” for 2022.

With this release, there is an immediate connection to be made with the famous atmos collaboration from 2003, with Nike even going as far as mirroring the safari-laden collars, forefoot mini-Swoosh, and the text-less logo at the heel. With the design tweaks on board, Nike rejuvenates the silhouette with a brand new color and material scheme anchored around earthy stone hues, and beachy yellows and blues.

It’s the latter that makes the smallest appearance, with faux reptile Checks and tongue branding joining sandy laces and the aforementioned forefoot mini Swoosh. All of this sits atop a two-tone beige suede upper and overlay set, with the titular safari print rocking in staple stone finishes across the mudguard and collar. Tongues are delivered in an earthy brown nylon, whilst the atmos collab is honored once more by green Checks in the rear. The pair is then completed by a creay-beige midsole, and light tan rubber outsole.
