The Nike Air Max 1 "Royal" Returns as a Slide

Nike is priming us Air Max heads for a special treat ahead of Air Max Day 2024 with the release of the Air Max 1 Slide in the iconic "Royal" colorway.

The Air Max 1 Slide "Royal" captures the essence of Tinker Hatfield's original Air Max 1 design, a sneaker set to release in "Big Bubble" format on March 26.

It features white mesh uppers that are breathable and lightweight, perfect for casual wear. Adding to the classic Air Max 1 aesthetic are neutral grey suede overlays and royal nubuck guards, a signature element of the "Royal" colorway. OG-inspired tongue tags are prominently placed at the forefoot, adding an authentic touch reminiscent of the original sneaker design, while the footbed of the slide is thoughtfully designed to pay homage to Hatfield's groundbreaking work, with an exposed Air unit at the back mirroring the revolutionary cushioning system of the original Air Max 1.
