The Nike Air Max 1 “Soft Vinyl” is Inspired by Collectible Vinyl Toys

There’s plenty of action for the Air Max 1 in 2023, from the return of the “Big Bubble” OG to corduroy-clad colorways and a release of a new “Shima Shima” design. But with all of that now behind us, we now shift our focus to the second semester, and thanks to Brendan Dunne of Complex, we get an insight into what’s coming for Fall 2023.

Amongst many leaked earlier this year is the Nike Air Max 1 “Soft Vinyl” a pair that is claimed to be inspired by soft vinyl collectible toys popular in Japan.

An internal Nike document shows that the pair will have a colorful TPU and leather upper, chrome Swoosh, glow-in-the-dark accents, and a graphic sock liners which references an original Air Max 1 poster. A sail-tinted midsole sits underfoot, atop a semi-translucent rubber outsole.

Now, official images of the release have landed, confirming the colors, materials, and special accents rife throughout the release.
