With Air Max Day and 4/20 less than a month apart, one would have thought that Nike would have already drawn the bridge between the two celebrations. Historically, the Swoosh has left that up to Nike SB, but the legality of ganja across the globe means that the Sportswear division can begin to honor the festivities. And although they’re not quite ready to make an official statement in their lineage, there’s absolutely no mistaking the influence of this unofficially-titled Nike Air Max 1 “Skunk” (officially titled “Treeline”), with it bearing a striking resemblance to the infamous Nike SB Dunk High of the same name.
While not 1:1 in its impression, the pair cuts extremely close to the ganja-inspired grail, as it makes use of the Dunk’s deep green and purple pigments. Suedes used are similar, but not as shaggy, with the Swoosh forgoes the famous stash pocket. Gritty white-fleck laces aim to resemble uncut grass, while smooth tan overlays and rough mesh uppers of brown add some extra texture to the release.
