Though we’ve had collaborations from Patta and Concepts, NFT’s from Tinker, and a brand new model dubbed the Air Max Motif, it still feels that the 35th anniversary of the Nike Air Max 1 is heavily underappreciated. That will surely change as Air Max Month unfolds when new releases like this women’s-exclusive Air Max 1 PRM “Wabi-Sabi” hit SNKRS and select retailers to celebrate the model’s 35th year.

A far cry from the accompanying Air Max 97 and Air Max 90 that done the XXXV branding, this Air Max 1 PRM “Wabi-Sabi” ditches textured overlays and dark/neon color combinations in favor of muted suedes and heavy contrast stitching. Multiple panels of dusty sage, old gold, muted magenta, and several greens work with grey leather midfoot overlays, whilst cracked-look midsoles are achieved via graphic print; rather poorly in comparison to Virgil’s Air Jordan 2 collaborations. Though there are many differences, there are a handful of consistencies with the collection, including XXXV stitching present on the profile ankle, overclocked Swwosh stitching on the forefoot, and denim uppers — though here they’re less noticeable as the pair’s base in bright white.
