Nike’s “Big Bubble” revamp of their Air Max lineage will look outside the Air Max 1 model in the near future, with early reports of a return of the OG Nike Air Max 180 “Ultramarine” expected to form part of the 2024 catalog.
Though well in advance of any specific details, Air Max enthusiast @iceberg.og has confirmed the return of the silhouette in it’s OG big bubble specs for next year.
Designed by industry legends Tinker Hatfield and Bruce Kilgore, the sneaker was originally released in 1991 and quickly became one of the brand’s most revered offerings. Taking its name from the visible 180 degrees of Air cushioning, including a partially transparent sole, the pair benefitted greatly from the market’s obsession with “the bubble,” earning itself an instant cult status.
Over the years, the OG “Ultramarine” colorway has seen a slew of re-releases, most recently in 2018, but 2024 will see the pair returns to its big-bubble height.
It is not clear if the pair will release in 1:1 OG specs.
Expect to learn more about the 2024 Nike Air Max 180 “Ultramarine” re-run as we work deeper into the year. Until then, reacquaint yourself with the 2018 release below, and as always, be sure to keep your eyes locked on our official Twitter account for further updates
