“Gucci” Nike Air Max 200 Release This Friday!

While slowly relenting it’s the pinnacle of performance badge to the Swoosh’s React tech, their beloved Air Maxcushioning systems have seen more and more lifestyle offerings pick up in the wake of the migration. That being said, it’s 30+ year history has allowed older silhouettes to dominate the casual market for years. But Nike’s recent push of models like the VaporMax Plus, Air Max 720, Air Max 270 and Air Max 270 React has all but established Air as the brand’s frontrunner in casual wear. And now, Nikes next street-ready pair has been revealed: the brand-new Air Max 200, offered up in this very Gucci colorway.

It’s easy to see the similarities to the Air Max 180 with the shape of the midsole and size of the heel’s bubble. But although the lower half may be inherently familiar, the upper half is all new. Here, a white mesh base is overlayed by aggressively-shaped textured black overlays which instantly hints at 90s nostalgia. Gucci-vibes come into play at the red mesh collar, which is overlayed by hints of green; the latter running to the middle lace stay and toe box Swoosh. Gold appears on the upper eyelet, heel pull and underfoot Swoosh, and tongue and insole branding. Completing the vintage-inspired design is a blacked-out 200 Air unit and matching rubber outsole sitting beneath a classic white midsole.
