This New Air Max 90 Channels Nike's ACG History
With all the world focused on the Air Max 1 for the annual Air Max Day celebrations — and beyond with its 35th anniversary — Nike's other marquee models have gone almost unnoticed. But in the background, you'll find some bangers from the Air Max 95, Air Max Plus, and Air Max 90, all of which have been pumping out stellar releases like clockwork. The latter model returns with another, this time harkening back to the brand's ACG (All Conditions Gear) sub-label.
Unlike the silhouette’s prior nods to the label, this pair works in a more subdued fashion; There's no Hike Nike guy, and there are no added utilitarian features, instead opting for colors palettes often associated with their outdoor line. With white and off-white tones applied to the mesh base and suede/leather overlays, respectively, color then comes in along the sneaker’s many accents: hits of purple mark almost every instance of branding — Swoosh, tongue label, Nike Air, etc. — while golden-tans dress the fixtures adjacent and often immediately underneath.
